Although guitarist Barney Kessel interprets seven standard ballads on this CD reissue (a trio set with bassist Monty Budwig and drummer Jake Hanna), this is not a ballad album. Most of the songs are taken at faster than usual tempoes with the emphasis on Kessel's chordal (rather than single-note) solos.

Purchased Album from Mr. Kessel on April 5th 1982, while performing at the DoubleTree Inn's 'Boojum Tree Lounge' in Phoenix, Az., autograph on rear cover. I believe this was when he and Herb Ellis had a duo show for about 5 nights. The 'Boojum Tree' was a real great place to catch shows also.
