Harry Crews was a short-lived no wave-influenced hardcore punk and crossover thrash supergroup made up of Lydia Lunch (guitar), Kim Gordon (bass), and Sadie Mae (drums). The band was only musically active in 1988, therefore they only officially produced and released one album, Naked in Garden Hills. The album was released in 1989 and was a compilation of live recordings played at clubs in London, UK and Austria
They released one album, Naked in Garden Hills, in 1989. Canadian pop band Men Without Hats has a song called "Harry Crews" on their 1991 album Sideways. Scarlover" is the first track on Maria McKee's 1996 album Life Is Sweet. She thanks Crews in her acknowledgments. In 2007, another documentary was released: Harry Crews – Survival Is Triumph Enough Kansas City band Season to Risk wrote and recorded a song on their eponymous first album in 1993, entitled "Snakes", which is inspired by the Crews novel A Feast of Snakes. Florida Trend magazine released an interview with Harry Crews posthumously in April 2012.
Their one album, Naked In Garden Hills, took its name from a novel by their namesake (as did many of the song titles), and was a compilation of live recordings from clubs in the UK and Austria. Members: Kim Gordon, Lisa Tomicich, Lydia Lunch.
Crews’ second novel, Naked in Garden Hills, first published in 1969 and now long out of print, was reputedly the author’s favourite, leading him to exclaim in interviews: Man, I sure was crazy when I wrote that. The novel is indeed a unique and crazy beast, clothing a gritty, no-nonsense depiction of character’s foibles and failings in proceedings so strange as to appear.
If one of Harry Crew's 20 something books had to be picked out for salvation among them all, this is it! Here he first shows us his penchant for freaks, but more importantly his ability to wrap man's world in the God of ignorance. This work is corrolary to O'Connor's "Wise Blood" asinmuch as everyone believes that God lives in New Yawk City. The album was released in 1989, and was a compilation of live recordings played at clubs in London, UK and Austria.
