Blues Control is an instrumental duo featuring Russ Waterhouse on guitars and electronics and Lea Cho on keyboards. The resulting music falls between the cracks of different genres; the fact that you can't easily classify Blues Control is part of its appeal. Waterhouse and Cho mix styles with an eclectic touch, claiming influences as varied as Debussy, Carla Bley, Bruce Hornsby, and Vince Guaraldi. Transferred from Queens to the Lehigh Valley, the duo sounds more at home in the more expansive environs. Love's a Rondo" leads with Cho's piano, which sounds particularly.
Genre: Psychedelic Rock. Consequence of Sound. Valley Tangents plays more like an exercise or experiment than a fully-realized album. Or consider a donation?
Blues Control are coming back to New York to play Mercury Lounge this Saturday to kick off a tour supporting the chusetts Psych unit, Six Organs of Admittance. There’s definitely a different feel to Valley Tangents than your earlier output. Do you feel you could have made this LP in Brooklyn/NYC or is it something that could have only came from where you’re living now? Lea Cho: We probably could not have made this record if we were still living in NYC. I suppose Valley Tangents is our Move to the country record– the songs were inspired by the valley; the animals; the local minor league baseball team; the freedom; the peace and quiet–but there were non-geographical factors that influenced the making of the record too. For one, we were able to spend.

Valley Tangents is their latest LP, following last year’s FRKWYS collaboration with zither musician Laraaji (Edward Larry Gordon), and, continuing a penchant for label-hopping, it’s their first for Drag City. At 34 minutes in length and six pieces, Valley Tangents doesn’t overstay its welcome, but covers a lot of ground in its brief running time. The opening Love’s a Rondo might be the most mature Blues Control piece on record; it combines love for Swell Maps, Manuel Göttsching, and Boston fusion group Worlds’ and all that those names imply. Had it been waxed 30 years ago and self-released in miniscule numbers, Valley Tangents would be a holy grail of the collectors’ market. 01. Love’s a Rondo 02. Iron Pigs 03.

Tangents is a studio album by American jazz bassist Gary Peacock recorded in Switzerland in 2016 together with pianist Marc Copland and drummer Joey Baron. Britt Robson of JazzTimes stated "That ambiance of received wisdom, of patient certainty, permeates Tangents. Derek Taylor of Dusted wrote "The band’s second date for ECM, Tangents is right on par with the first in presenting each of the three players in the best possible setting, acoustically and creatively.
