Diamond Eyes Album Trailer (International Version).
Deftones is the eponymous fourth studio album by American alternative metal band Deftones, released on May 20, 2003 by Maverick Records. The album features a broader spectrum of musical styles than the band's previous albums, ranging from some of their heaviest compositions to moody trip hop influences, and some recorded mostly with seven-string guitars. It was the band's final album to be produced by Terry Date, whose collaboration with Deftones dated back to their debut album Adrenaline (1995).

Deftones is an American alternative metal band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1988. They have released eight albums to date, with two Platinum (Adrenaline, White Pony) and two Gold certifications (Around the Fur, Deftones). The band consists of Chino Moreno (lead vocals and guitar), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Frank Delgado (keyboards and turntables), and Abe Cunningham (drums and percussion).
Deftones have accomplished quite a bit since forming in the late '80s while some of the members were still in high school. The band has seen some ups, some downs, but they've survived and thrived and are still one of the top bands in the business.
An album that turned Deftones into the hottest band on the planet (certainly in the UK), Around The Fur is more thoughtful and features greater depth than Adrenaline. But still was as heavy as any metal band around, as heard on the breakneck lotion or hearing Chino Moreno trading vocal lines with Max Cavalera on Headup. The closest thing metal has ever had to an album like Radiohead’s Ok Computer, and the most compelling reason for why Deftones exist in a bubble all of their own making. Metal Hammer Newsletter.
Deftones have progressed so much and revamped their sound so many times that one can’t simply expect a continuation of any specific vibe on their new record. Will it be brooding and experimental like 2012’s Koi No Yokan? Trippy and uplifting, like their latest album, Gore? Or maybe a return to their classic sound, ala 1997’s Around the Fur? We’ll keep speculating until the album’s out. For now, though, here are seven things we’re hoping to hear on Deftones’ new album. On the other side of the spectrum, we also think Deftones could do something massively catchy on the new album. Their more recent material has definitely opened up the band’s sound and abilities, but their flirtations with pop sounds have made us curious as to how far Deftones could take their listenability, leaving us interested to hear the band drop a huge, infectious hit single.
Deftones have revealed that they have six or seven new songs written and in progress for their upcoming album. The band’s previous release was their acclaimed 2016 album ‘Gore‘. Having previously told us that he ‘wouldn’t want to carry on forever‘, the band then excited fans by sharing photos of them back at it and jamming in the studio earlier this year. There are six or seven songs, which are still mutating, frontman Chino Moreno told Rock. They are very powerful, and I am anxious because, as I told you before, it has been a collaborative process.
Rock critics usually reserve a special place for Deftones above or at least away from the rest of the turn-of-the-century nu-metal movement. hardcore into their southern California alt-metal. So critics and fans alike will be happy with 2005's Rarities, Covers and Videos, which begins with fantastic covers of Jawbox ("Savory") and Cocteau Twins ("Wax and.
