Biography by Steve Huey. Scottish group, led by the affably bombastic Jim Kerr, whose mix of anthemic art rock and electro-dance rhythms made them pop fixtures.
Acoustic is the seventeenth studio album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds, released on 11 November 2016 by Caroline International. The genesis of Acoustic can be traced back to a rare live session the band recorded for the BBC Radio Two's Chris Evans Breakfast Show on 26 September 2014, then promoting their 16th studio album, Big Music.
Real Life (Simple Minds album). Real Life is the ninth studio album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds, released in April 1991. This was the first Simple Minds album recorded without keyboardist and original bandmember Mick MacNeil, who left the band after the previous tour in 1990. The core band on this album comprise only Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, and Mel Gaynor (who all appear on the rear cover), with the remaining personnel being session musicians.

Back then Simple Minds were still finding our way in North America and needing all the support we could muster. Luckily, we got plenty of that from Bobby Gayle and many others in Toronto who went out their way to show much love for our music. He was desperately committed to getting airplay for those early Minds tracks, and I have vivid memories of being in the car with Bobby as we travelled to the various radio stations with hope in our heart. Releasing the album was of course hugely important to Simple Minds r.
Will the gig be your birthday party then?" He enquired. No doubt it was during the mixing of our Once Upon A Time album. It had been a long session through the night, but finally we had the finished mix of Alive And Kicking complete. Inside the studio was, it sounded fantastic.
Simple Minds are a Scottish rock band that formed in Glasgow in 1977. The most commercially successful Scottish band of the 1980s, they have achieved five UK number one albums during their career and have sold over 60 million records worldwide. Despite various personnel changes, they continue to record and tour. The album's title track "Life in a Day" was released as Simple Minds' first single and reached No. 62 in the UK Gallup charts, with the album reaching No. 30 in the LP charts. The next single ("Chelsea Girl") failed to chart. While preparing ideas for the next record, they played a support slot for Magazine, following which they went back to the studio with Leckie to work on new material. Real to Real Cacophony. Simple Minds' second release, Real to Real Cacophony was a significant departure from the pop tunes of Life in a Day.
Simple Minds then wear their glittering Rock boots as they dish out Barrowland Star, whose anthemic guitar interludes and orchestral flourishes make the song the star that it is. After this e epic, the title track swings next in soulful sophistication. Then Simple Minds wrap up everything by diving further into its Sophisti-Pop excursion as it leaves the listener with the cinematic, dreamy ballad Sense of Discovery. Walk Between Worlds is definitely vintage but updated Simple Minds. Kerr and Burchill with their current collective are really on a mission to ensure that the whole Pop Rock world never forgets about them, ever.
