American Beauty is the fifth studio album by rock band the Grateful Dead. Released November 1, 1970, by Warner Bros. Records, the album continued the folk rock and country music style of their previous album Workingman's Dead, issued earlier in the year. Though the Americana approach is still evident in the songwriting, comparatively the sound focused more on folk harmonies and major-key melodies, showing influence from Bob Dylan and Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young.

When You Were Young’ is just one progression which repeats, with a couple of small variations, but it was instantly powerful and once I heard it, I came up with the melody and the title within 20 minutes. It was one of those exciting moments that you read about, and I’ve been lucky enough to be part of it a few times. This was definitely one of them. Live, it took a huge load off my shoulders too – there was a lot of pressure on us when ‘Hot Fuss’ did so well, and that song was just a total relief! I knew that song had something about it, and I’m thankful for it every night.

WO: There were a couple of times in the movie where I had to be emotional. In those times, I would often have to isolate myself from everyone, thinking some dark thoughts to myself. It was tough, but getting the scene right and then everyone comforting me in the end was definitely a great payoff. Photo by Joshua Shultz. Were you scared? WO: You know, I never intended to go in that house, and I really don’t want to have to do it again. Kehlani introduces Nights like this ft.

Emily Ratajowski, a beauty by any standards, hinted at the downsides to her looks in an article in the Evening Standard, but she was careful with how she phrased it, cleverly avoiding invoking Brick’s Law. I started to realise that I was being perceived differently in puberty, she said. Basically it was more about the way that people had a problem with a girl looking like a woman because it confused them, it made them feel uncomfortable and I think there was a lot of guilt that they wanted to induce. It doesn’t matter how beautiful you were in your youth; when you age you become invisible. You could still look fabulous but. who cares? As far as the world is concerned?

Beauty in ancient Greece was a complicated business, with an ominous undercurrent, as historian Bettany Hughes explains. A full-lipped, cheek-chiselled man in Ancient Greece knew two things - that his beauty was a blessing (a gift of the gods no less) and that his perfect exterior hid an inner perfection. For the Greeks a beautiful body was considered direct evidence of a beautiful mind. They even had a word for it - kaloskagathos - which meant being gorgeous to look at, and hence being a good person.

Can we climb this mountain, I don't know Higher now than ever before, I Know we can make it if we take it slow That's thinking easy, easy now, watch it go. We're burning down the highway skyline on the Back of a hurricane that started turning When you were young When you were young. And sometimes you close your eyes And see the place where you used to live When you were young

The first country album to sell a million copies featured many previously released songs by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Tompall Glaser and Jennings' wife Jessi Colter. But unifying the songs under the theme of outlaw country - a concept gaining national traction - made this album a runaway hit. A big part of that was due to the perfect cover art, depicting all the singers as dangerous, wanted outlaws from the Old West.
