Vincent Neil Wharton (born February 8, 1961) is an American musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist of heavy metal band Mötley Crüe which he co-founded in 1981, but he has also released three albums as a solo artist. He is known for his turbulent personal life which has led to multiple arrests and convictions, including one for vehicular manslaughter.
He said that he decided to sing and play all the instruments – acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, piano, organ, percussion, Mellotron and toy xylophone – because I think I’m pretty good . He was right to be confident in his abilities as one of the world’s best one-man bands: the album stayed in the charts for 48 weeks and ended up going gold. Hear: ‘I Saw The Light’ (1972).
Man no I thought you bout to tell him off, man what's up Man I'ma tell him when I feel like it, man shut up And you ain't even back me up when we s'posed to be crew When I was bout to talk right after you I swear, I swear man. These chicks don't even know the name of my band. ain't a band bitch we don't play instruments So why he get 90 and we only get 10 percent And these guys they can find every area code (Em: Proof carry my bag) Bitch carry your own Can't make it to the stage, Security in my way (Who the fuck are you? Where's Obie and Dre?!)
For 1993’s ‘Both Sides’ solo album, Collins had such personal stories to tell in his music, he wanted to do everything (including produce) himself. He even played the bagpipes! Partially inspired by his failing second marriage, ‘Both Sides’ struck a downbeat tone, similar to the Genesis frontman’s solo debut, ‘Face Value’ (which revolved around the breakup of his first marriage). Perhaps because of its melancholy aesthetic, ‘Both Sides’ proved to be a critical and commercial disappointment.
Reminded me of a less black/more experimental version of Lifelover. Trip-hop definitely goes well with metal me thinks, needs moarz ! You're right. It's sort of my own definition of one-man band albums. The only thing that's really important is that there can't be more than 1 band member for these albums. When there's one or a few guest/session musicians, I can ignore that as the sole band member pretty much figured out everything himself, so he simply uses the other musicians to accomplish his goal. He probably also does the most db work out of everyone too, potentially second to nicaZe. nicaZe is my newest recruit/promotee to Db Contributor. - ~Zep, Database and Forum Moderation~.
