So far, life after SoM has been an adventure. I began studying at Berklee College of Music at the beginning of the school year. I’m currently in my second semester, and I plan on majoring in Songwriting. Being at Berklee has allowed me to focus on what I love most: making music.

Folk-pop singer and songwriter Sarah McLachlan was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She is best known for her emotional ballads. McLachlan became internationally known with her 1993 album, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. With her next release, 1997’s Surfacing, McLachlan enjoyed even greater success. It sold more than 7 million copies, buoyed by the popularity of such songs as Building a Mystery, Adia and Angel. That same year, McLachlan co-founded Lilith Fair, a summer concert series that showcased the talents of female artists, including A-listers like Suzanne Vega, Tracy Chapman, Paula Cole and the Indigo Girls.

In 1997, McLachlan released her most successful album to date, Surfacing. It topped the chart in Canada and reached number two in the United States, and also charted in various countries around the world. Surfacing was certified diamond in Canada for selling over one million copies, 8 platinum in the US for selling eight million copies, and gold in other countries. 2004: VH1 Storytellers DVD. 2005: Fumbling Towards Ecstasy Live DVD. 2005: Sarah McLachlan: A Life of Music DVD. Sarah McLachlan is like a lot of women you might know: in her early 40s, going through a divorce, still in a bit of shock at finding herself raising two children as a single mother. Except, well, she's Sarah McLachlan, who's sold more than 40 million albums worldwide. So she can sing about it. And boy does she ever on her album Laws of Illusion, out next week.
