Musical Direction: Billy May. Running Time: 12 minutes. Studio singer Marilyn Hooven plays the harp this time. Among many other Hollywood singing gigs, Hooven sang off screen for Dorothy McGuire in Disney’s Summer Magic. Our own Mouse Tracks guardian angel, Robie Lester, whom we mentioned in an earlier Spin about Ranger Woodlore, once again turns in an ingenuous, girl-next-door narration. With the holidays on the way, it’s a good time to point out one of Robie’s best roles: Miss Jessica on the Rankin/Bass classic Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town).
John James MacDonald (May 19, 1906 – February 1, 1991) was a Scottish-born American foley artist, animator, voice actor, musician, and the original head of the Disney sound effects department. He was also the voice of Mickey Mouse from 1947 to 1977. He was born in Dundee, Scotland, on May 19, 1906. His parents were Richard William MacDonald and Minnie Hall
Disney was Mickey and Mickey was Disney. James MacDonald (1952) Most famous for being the Disney Sound Effects genius, he voiced the character for many years but not for memorable roles. His more important roles are Jaq and Gus (from "Cinderella"), the Dormouse (from "Alice in Wonderland") and Chip. Wayne Allwine (1983-2004) He was the Disney's heir! Allwine took what made Mickey's voice so distinctive and gave a unique, fresh, more modern take to it. Among other things, he was married to Russi Taylor (Minnie Mouse's voice actress). Goofy: Pinto Colvig (1935-1952) Great comedian, he also voiced Grumpy and Sleepy (from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs") and Pluto. Hal Smith (1983) His role in "Mickey's Christmas Carol" is small but funny and also unusual for Goofy. Bill Farmer (1988-2007) He is the Colvig's heir!
