Trini Lopez - real name: Trinidad Lopez, III; born: May, 1937 (Dallas, TX, USA); american singer, guitarist and actor. Initially receiving very little success, Lopez landed a steady engagement at the nightclub PJ's, He was heard there by Frank Sinatra, who had started his own label, Reprise Records, and who subsequently signed Lopez. His debut live album, Trini Lopez At PJ's, was released in 1963, & his career took off from that point
Trini Lopez first started making music in Dallas in the late 1950s; fast-forward a few years and he'd made his way to Los Angeles and a residency at the . s club (later known as the Starwood). After Frank Sinatra signed him to his Reprise label, Lopez recorded his 1963 debut at the popular West Hollywood night spot, and the album spawned a million-selling single.
In my opinion this was Trini Lopez most popular album of his entire career. Recorded live in 1962 during one of Trini's memorable performances at PJs in Texas, and released by Frank Sinatra's "Reprise" label, this CD a must have for all Trini Lopez and rock music (with tex-mex music influence) fans. In my opinion, the crown jewels of this recorded live performance are definitely the old time hit classics "America" and "If I Had a Hammer"
