Big Dish – Prospect Street. fact of life That the sun never shines on Prospect Street. You talk about love Love of the good things And the problems that the hand of fate brings I take a walk to wherever I'm going And I'm sure you know That's a long, long way from heaven. But when I'm listening to the twilight sound And there's still people up moving around You know the sad thing about it is That I would really love to think it exists - Prospect Street. You better believe in it And you can make anything come true You can take it or leave it When I'm down on Prospect Street

The Big Dish played their first gig in 20 years at the O2 ABC. Karen Miller reports. Last year we saw Scottish band Love and Money reform for, at the time, a one-off Celtic Connections show (they’ve since done a tour and are releasing a new CD later this year). But, in this case, I had absolutely nothing to worry about. From the first bars of Prospect Street to the excellent cover of All the Young Dudes that ended the evening, it was a class performance and you’d never have known it had been so long since they last played together.

The Big Dish are a Scottish pop band formed in Airdrie, Scotland in 1983. The band initially comprised Steven Lindsay (vocals/guitar), Mark Ryce (guitar) and John Harper (keyboards). The trio was subsequently augmented on stage by Paul Albertis (bass) and John Hendry (drums). As well as releasing three studio albums, the band performed live as support to Lloyd Cole and Big Country. Not long after the split, Lindsay resumed his partnership with Armstrong. Lindsay provided vocals on Armstrong’s 2002 album As If to Nothing. To promote this release, Lindsay returned to the live arena, performing throughout Europe with a thirty-piece orchestra. 1985: "Big New Beginning". 1985: "Prospect Street". 1986: "Prospect Street" (re-release). 1987: "Christina's World". 1988: "European Rain".
