Stretch is the ninth studio album by the American solo artist Scott Walker. It was released in November 1973 but was unsuccessful on the music charts. No singles were released from the album. It was Walker's first solo album for CBS/Columbia records after departing from Philips Records. The majority of the songs recorded for the album were covers of old songs, some of which were by songwriters Walker had covered before such as Randy Newman and Jimmy Webb

Under the artistic direction of Chick, and marketed and distributed exclusively by Concord Records, the Stretch Records catalog boasts innovative, creative music by such jazz luminaries as Bob Berg, Avishai Cohen, Eddie Gomez, John Patitucci, Bud Powell (Stretch Archives), Wallace Roney, and Dave Weckl, among others. The first Stretch title, John Patitucci's Heart of the Bass, was released in 1992 (distributed by MCA). Stretch joined Concord in February 1997.
Stretch, Scott Walker's first album for CBS, purports to be a detour into country music, but it is a side road that Walker decided not to pursue thoroughly. Only a handful of songs, like Tom T. Hall's "That's How I Got to Memphis" and Mike Newbury's "Sunshine," are genuine country songs, and the remainder of the album consists of mainstream pop and folk-rock songs that are quite similar to his latter-day Phillips albums.

I would have to say the stretch of Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets,. And Justice For All, then The Black Album by Metallica. mikejd71 6 очков7 очков8 очков 5 часов назад (3 дочерние ветви). I would put Meddle in front of that list. Although their sound changed a lot from that to Dark Side, it is still a brilliant album.
