The Best of Both Worlds is the second greatest hits album by American hard rock band Van Halen, released on July 20, 2004 on Warner Bros. The compilation features material recorded with lead vocalists David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar, but omitting Gary Cherone's three-year tenure with the band. Prior to The Best of Both Worlds' release, Hagar reunited with Van Halen, and the band subsequently recorded three new tracks to include on the release.

Best of Both Worlds (Remastered Version). I am an 80's guy and this is Van Halen. Amazing deal and 5 great songs would be well worth the deal - imagine the bargain knowing there are 36 songs total and how many are great and good. I haven't listened to the whole album yet as many songs are played, then the played again. There is no doubt many of us have Van Halen albums in our collection, but not to this extent. Absolutely fantastic and great for all ages - including, and especially the young people who may be born in the 90's or 00's that are not as familiar. Enjoy a piece of Rock history.
Best Of Both Worlds An Intro that reminds me of AC/DC’s Highway to Hell, it is a good opener to a very good song. A chorus that is almost bellowed and a fairly soft verse. Traditional solo which further shames 99% of guitarists ever. Why Can’t This Be Love A drum intro to the very first Sammy Hagar song I ever heard. A spaced out guitar riff accompanies a pounding drum beat which leads into a chorus that sticks in your head. The compilation features 16 tracks taken from the six David Lee Roth era albums (1978-1984), and 14 from the four Sammy Hagar era studio albums (1986-1995), plus three live songs with Hagar from Live: Right Here, Right Now (1993), and three new songs with Hagar made for the compilation. The album was released in promotion of the new reunion tour featuring Hagar returning as lead singer. The three new songs were also performed live at various times
Van Halen III (1998). Even the most partisan of David Lee Roth loyalists had to admit that Sammy Hagar could sing. Recorded over two nights in May 1992 in Fresno, California, the album featured all of the big hits they’d recorded with Hagar – Poundcake, Why Can’t This Be Love, Best Of Both Worlds, Right Now, Dreams – plus four Roth-era classics, Hagar’s solo anthem One Way To Rock, and a blast through The Who’s Won’t Get Fooled Again. It was a big deal – Van Halen’s first album with David Lee Roth since 1984. And while it was never going to be a match for what they achieved in the past – those six brilliant records from their first imperial phase – A Different Kind Of Truth was a big, ballsy hard rock record in the classic Van Halen tradition. To this end, the band exhumed several songs that were originally written in the 70s before their debut album was released.
