The Bernt Rosengren Big Band performs an original composition Bernt himself. Bernt Rosengren, saxophonist, flutist, composer and arranger, is one of Sweden's most internationally known jazz musicians.
Bernt Rosengren: I'm Flying by Jack Bowers, published on October 11, 2009. On this quartet date, Rosengren tests his mettle by surrounding himself with members of the younger generation-pianist Stefan Gustafson, bassist Hans Backenroth and drummer Bengt Stark-each of whom lends the leader unwavering support and solos with perception and poise. Rosengren, for his part, is a model of elegance and consistency, inspiring his companions without stealing their thunder. Together they comprise a tight-knit and consistently engaging foursome. Besides blowing superbly, Rosengren wrote seven of the album's twelve selections (including five of the first six)

When Swedish jazz artist Bernt Rosengren turned to big band in 1975, he’d enjoyed a 20-year career mastering the quartet in bop, post-bop, and every fusion known to man. Those who knew him wer. Swedish jazz musician Bernt Rosengren was already fronting his own quartets when the big band bug bit. Caprice Records captured the moment in May 1980 and, with Naxos of America, re-released it on CD January 29, 2013.

The great Swedish tenos saxophonist, Bernt Rosengren, is a frequent visitor in Copenhagen, and hardly a Copenhagen Jazz Festival passes without the opportunity of hearing him either at JazzCup or one of the other small and unpretentious venues where Bernt enjoys playing jazz. Just like the man himself: quiet and unpresumptuous, not someone to flash anything -except his love of the music which has filled his life for the past half century- and even this is done quietly. And despite his life-time art grant form the Swedish government, jazz has never made him rich.
