Even though this album does not contain Journey’s best song it is absolutely their best collection. Definitely the most unified Journey album. Absolutely their best work. Every song on this album is an unquestionable testimony to the talent of Steve Perry. His long absence from music and performing has been a great loss to the music world and all his devoted fans around the world. I constantly play this particular album, because I miss "The Voice" so much. Really disagree with Escape being the greatest Journey album. It's number one because of the top ten hits it produced without a doubt. But song for song Evolution is arguably one of the most brilliantly written rock albums regardless of any other definitions.
Journey's most popular period featured successor Steve Perry, who helmed blockbusters like 1981's Escape and 1983's Frontiers. Then, there's modern-day singer Arnel Pineda, who helped Journey back to platinum status on 2008's Revelation. As you'll see on this ranking of the Best Song From Every Journey Album, however, there's more to the story. Robert Fleischman played a small, but important role in the band's transition from fusion rock toward more pop-friendly sounds
Journey is the self-titled debut album by the band of the same name. It was released in 1975 on Columbia Records. Unlike their later recordings, this is a jazzy progressive rock album which focuses mainly on the band's instrumental talents. It is the only album to include rhythm guitarist George Tickner among their personnel.
A power ballad in the best Journey tradition. 8) Lovin, Touchin’, Squeezin’ (1979). Anyone who thinks that Journey aren’t capable of anything other than slushy ballads really should visit this song. It has a funk groove, and while the tempo is very much of the balladic kind, Schon stabs through with some electrifying moments. What’s more, Perry’s singing soars impressively to ensure maximum dramatic impact. One of the highlights on Evolution. It may seem odd, but this song was actually inspired by Thin Lizzy, with whom Journey had toured a couple of years before recording the Departure album. But when you analyse the way in which the vocals are constructed, and the interchange between the instruments, then it becomes a lot clearer. There’s a gliding feel to the guitar parts that does feel like it is Lizzy influenced, and Perry adopts a storytelling style that is close to the Lynott approach.
Journey's Greatest Hits is just that, there best hits from "Infinity" to "Raised on Radio" with the inclusion of two soundtrack songs that were left off of "Escape". The quality of the CD is excellent which adds to the quality of music at higher volumes as if you were at one of the concerts in the 80's. EXCELLENT ~ but then again, it's Journey! Note to Keef: You obviously have no idea what 'music' is describing Journey the way you did. Perhaps "this old man" or "I'm a little teapot" type songs are more your speed. No worries; you'll grow up someday - hopefully.
