Miles Davis was an American trumpeter, bandleader and musical composer. His major (without bootlegs, et. discography consists of at least 51 studio albums, 36 live albums, 35 compilation albums, 17 box sets, 4 soundtrack albums, 57 singles and 3 remix albums. Davis' initial appearances on record were mainly as a member of bebop saxophonist Charlie Parker's quintet from 1944 through 1947 and released on the Savoy label.
This two-hour documentary was produced by Mike Dibb for the BBC's Channel Four network and as of this writing - in 2008 - The Miles Davis Story (2002) stands as the most honest biopic assessment of his life and career that has ever been assembled. Few stones are left unturned, from his unsettling relationships to the chronic bouts of substance abuse that fuelled his more disturbing personal incidents.

Davis’ album ‘Miles Davis Quartet’ was released in the year 1954. Several other compositions such as ‘Blue Haze’ and ‘Walkin’’ followed, and this helped Davis in making a strong comeback. In 1955, he formed his own troupe, the ‘Great Quintet,’ which included musicians who were not established at that time. They recorded their debut album, ‘Round About Midnight,’ for ‘Columbia Records. The album received wide acceptance. In 1959, Davis recorded the album ‘Kind of Blue,’ which featured Davis’ sextet, including pianist Bill Evans. The album turned out to be an instant success.
