Stage Left is the second live album by the Canadian rock band Rush, released as a double album in October 1981 on Anthem Records. After touring in support of their eighth studio album Moving Pictures (1981), the band gathered recordings made over the previous two years and constructed a live release from them with producer Terry Brown. The album features recordings from June 1980 on their Permanent Waves (1980) tour, and from March 1981 on their Moving Pictures tour.

Stage Left is a live album by Canadian band Rush, released in 1981. A video release with the same name, with slightly different content, was released in 1982 on VHS and later on Laserdisc, and in 2007 on DVD. The album was voted 9th best live album of all time in a poll by Classic Rock Magazine in 2004. YYZ" is extended from 4:24 (studio version) to 7:45 by a Neil Peart drum solo from 2:22 to 5:31

Stage Left is a live album by Canadian band Rush, released in 1981 Contents. The whole title came from a character in an American cartoon called Snagglepuss. But the fact of the matter was that the album cover picture was taken from stage left. And coincidentally that's the direction in which Snagglepuss runs most of the time. Geddy Lee, Sounds magazine No. 66, November 1981. We wanted to have Snagglepuss's tail on there. You know, 'Exit Stage Left', with a picture of just his tail.

After such power-house releases like 'A Farewell to Kings', 'Hemispheres', 'Permanent Waves' and 'Moving Pictures', Rush had established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Dubbed the best rock band in the galaxy, Rush would show exactly how and why they were hit with such a label. 13. La Villa Strangiato Closing out one of the finest live albums by any group is another impossible instrumental. From their 'Hemispheres' album, La Villa Strangiato just shows off how talented these three Canadian icons are. Alex is superb on the guitars here - leading the way but never overpowering Geddy's smashing base line or Neil's god-like percussions. As good as this song was on the studio albums, it's that much better live.

Stage Left' could easily be substituted as a greatest hits album as it features almost note perfect performances of many of Rush's best known songs. Therein lies part of the problem, is it really live? What I mean is; what happened to the audience in a lot of the songs? That this record, Rush's second live opus, represent songs from their most successful period is almost beyond discussion.

Exi. tage Left, the band’s second live album, was recorded at The Apollo in Glasgow, Scotland on June 10th & 11th, 1980 and at The Forum in Montreal, Quebec in March 27th, 1981. As Rush advanced technologically into the early 80s, capturing flawless recorded performances became more and more challenging: Yes, we made a few repairs to the record. Exi. tage Left was among the first Rush albums to be digitally mastered. As the world moved to the CD digital format, digital masters created from original analog recordings became a necessity. Rush’s previous studio album, Moving Pictures, was one of the first rock albums to be digitally mixed and mastered.
