His remix of Azzido Da Bass's single, "Doom's Night" helped launch his career in 2000. The Final XS did not sell well, and Maas himself even called it "cheesy". His second record release was with another producer, Gary D, with Die Herdplatte, which was a bigger success than his first album. Gary D also gained Maas a residency at Hamburg's famous club, The Tunnel, between 1994 and 1996. Through British contacts Maas played at the Bristol club Lakota. In 2000 Timo Maas began a residency alongside Deep Dish at the New York club Twilo. Maas first became popular in mainstream dance music through his remix of Azzido Da Bass' Doom's Night, in the wake of this success he released Music For The Maases Volume 1, a mix album consisting of many of his previous tracks and remixes. After producing another mix album called Connected with Paul Oakenfold's imprint Perfecto Maas released his own debut album Loud in 2002.

Way back in 1995 DJ M-Zone invited Timo Maas to play @ Diztruxshon after hearing one of Timo's sets on the European circuit. The pair later collaborated to make the Friendship EP in 1996 and Timo went on to produce the hard trance classic Die Herdplatte with hardtrance legend Gary D (both on LiTime records). These releases firmly established Maas as a producer of good honest hard trance before he veered into the "trance" & "progressive" category. This track was played to death by Timo, Mick, Mark EG, Kenny Sharp, Noya and many others in the North of England between 1995-97, its a pretty quick one so you get plenty of top end pitch, great to end a set with as you can crank that pitch right up. the piano line is simple yet effective and the "Final Excess" robotic voice just adds to the atmosphere. The green vinyl release looks wicked rotating on your 1210, if you call yourself a hard trance dj you must own this release ;)
