Sombrero Fallout was Pump’s second album (or seventh if you counted their cassette output as MFH). It was due to be released in 1993 but for inexplicable reasons it never happened. It’s surprising if gratifying, then, that it should finally see the light of day 17 years later. But first some history. Pump were Andrew Cox and David Elliott. Sombrero Fallout was recorded in various locations and mixed by Colin Potter at ICR. It was due to be released by Trident Music International in 1993 but for unfathomable reasons it never happened. The rest of the 90s saw the duo drift apart as day jobs took precedence, with David’s move to Japan effectively signaling Pump’s demise. Fast forward to 2009 and Andrew’s tragic death, the result of a long battle with alcoholism. For those who knew him, we will miss his intelligence, wit and creativity.

World music inspired psychedelic folk dub with Bouzouki, Fretless Bass, trombone, Poetry, Vocals, loops and samples. well not sure whats happening in the Sombrero camp at the mo but. we may try and persuade him to do a farewell Gig :) but wish him well in all he does. Love and Age - Issa Farrah and the Sombrero Brothers.

1) "Pump was an experimental, pre-electronica, band, active between 1979-93. They released five cassette albums as MFH on the YHR label before changing their name to Pump in 1986 and recording the LP The Decoration of the Duma Continues in 1987 (Final Image) and Sombrero Fallout in 1992 (released by Plague Recordings in 2010). History: Andrew Cox (born 14 July 1961) met David Elliott (born 14 March 1961) at the University of Sussex in October 1979.

From Sombrero Fallout by Richard Brautigan. Richard Brautigan sombrero fallout prose. The people were curious as to what was up but they just stood around watching the mayor, the two crying men and the sombrero. The crowd wasn’t talking very much. Every once in a while there would be a little whispering going on. One would be hard put to imagine that these same people would soon be overwhelming the local police, fighting the National Guard to a standstill and then taking on paratroopers, tanks, and helicopter gunships. There was absolutely no way of knowing this by looking at them right now.
