Outside (O'Death album). Outside is the fourth album by alternative country band O'Death.
O'Death are a New York City-based quintet playing scrappy, Americana-seeped folk songs- they can be menacing and frantic, or odd and quiet- in the slapdash spirit of Tom Waits. For O'Death, at least, it's the New York bit that tends to trip people up: It's easy to feel distrustful of (real or imagined) hipster mobs, and to feel proprietary about music as raw and unpretentious as the classic country and folk O'Death mine. And while these days every band that enlists a fiddler gets subjected to an Americana litmus test- Are they southern?

City Slang) UK release date: 6 June 2011. by Steven Johnson published: 6 Jun 2011 in Albums. New York based outfit O’Death have built up a reputation over recent years as practitioners of a ragged, incendiary gothic-country-punk rock that beats with a dark, heavy heart. Bugs opens the album and is in possession of a soaring, airborne chorus. It is followed up by the gloriously ramshackle Ghost Head and the stomping Alamar, which features clattering instrumentation and intense fiddle playing reminiscent of late period A Silver Mt. Zion. Black Dress showcases their mastery of striking tempo changes, as does Ourselves which arrives full of stark, clashing percussion.
