The Rolling Stones 'The Real Alternate Album' - Exile On Main Street (2012 Red Tongue Records : RTR-014) Live Soundboard & Studio Recordings, Sessions. Soundboard Recordings Encoded: 224 Kbps MP3.

Metamorphosis is the third compilation album of The Rolling Stones music released by former manager Allen Klein's ABKCO Records (who usurped control of the band's Decca/London material in 1970) after the band's departure from Decca and Klein. Released in 1975, Metamorphosis centres on outtakes and alternate versions of well-known songs recorded from 1964 to 1970.

Many of the cuts are silly and weak, but anyone who has been following the real metamorphosis of the Rolling Stones over the last decade can look at these tracks as experiments, jokes, curious artifacts and at worst, nice tries, all infused with the mysterious energy of that elemental Stones consciousness. An alternate take of Out of Time leads off with a strikeout. The cold fury of the Flowers version is obscured by an incongruous female chorus and a kitschy string section.

Metamorphosis - The Real Alternate Album ‎(3xLP, Red + 2xCD + Box, Comp, Ltd, Unofficial). RTR-005 not quite sure how this is THE REAL ALTERNATE album when it in fact contains the entire released official LP for the first 16 trax. seems quite a rip-off. nice box with 3D cover. colored vinyl and 2 CDs. could have been a lot better filled out. with other rare studio/live cuts instead of official album. track "I know" not Stones-and many trax have 'minimal" Stones Participation.

Though it remains the only Rolling Stones outtakes collection album ever to be officially released, Metamorphosis is one of those albums that has been slighted by almost everyone who has touched it, a problem that lies in its genesis  . The real meat, however, lies in between times.

The album's cover art alludes to Franz Kafka's novel: The Metamorphosis. eBooks & eLearning.

Almost half the album consists of demos of songs penned by Jagger and Richards but intended for other artists to record, during the Twins’ first fertile period as writers around 1965 (several songs from that year’s Aftermath album were similarly covered). These were cut under Andrew Oldham’s tutelage with Jagger vocalising and backings provided by sessioneers and studio guests including Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Clem Cattini, John McLaughlin, Tony Hicks and Graham Nash. There are dozens if not a hundred unreleased outtakes and alternate versions of songs by the band. Seek and you shall find music far better then Metamorphosis’ meager musical output. Child Of The Moon is a real 60’s Stones treat. They did a pretty weird vid to accompany it too. Claudine from around Some Girls time is damn fine in a wacky sort of way for those on the obscure trail.

Er...not quite sure how this is THE REAL ALTERNATE album when it in fact contains the entire released official LP for the first 16 trax...WHY?..seems quite a rip-off...otherwise some good mid '60's stuff in mostly excellent sound..nice box with 3D cover..colored vinyl and 2 CDs..numbered..could have been a lot better filled out with other rare studio/live cuts instead of official album. SKIP IT. Another major disappointment from this sketchy label....track "I know" not Stones--and many trax have 'minimal" Stones Participation. A lost opportunity as many RTR sets are. Too bad really.
