JSD Band were one of the leading British folk-rock bands of the early seventies. Following a split up, they reformed to produce two further albums due to the large amount of interest in their early releases. The band were very influential on the folk scene during the boom years of the English folk revival. The band took its name from the initials of the three members who formed it in 1969: Jim Divers, Sean O’Rouke, and Des Coffield.

Band of Joy was the name of Robert Plant's Black Country psychedelic folk group of the late '60s and his revival of its name and spirit in 2010 is of no small significance. Mid 60's band that fused blues, rock and country. Featuring both Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder. Many tracks have never been released before.

The peak of the JSD Band's popularity came with their second album, JSD Band. Released shortly after the group relocated to London, in 1971, the album sold more than 20,000 copies. Their third album, Travelling Days, released in 1973, failed to match the sales of its predecessor. Although they released three more singles - "Sarah Jane," "Sunshine Of Life" and "Hayes And Harlington Blues" - the group elected to go their seperate ways in 1974. The two albums since their reforming have shown two sides of the band's musical approach.

The JSD Band was an influential Scottish-based Celtic and folk rock band primarily active from 1969 to 1974 and then again briefly from 1997 to 1998. The band released five full-length albums, and numerous singles and special releases, many of which are still sought after by collectors from around the world. The JSD Band formed in 1969 and derived its name from the first letter of the first name of each of its three founding members: Jim Divers, Sean O’Rourke, and Des Coffield.
