The Costello Album, also The McCartney/MacManus Collaboration, is a Paul McCartney album that includes work from his 1987–88 songwriting collaboration with Elvis Costello. The album includes demo recordings made by Paul and Elvis in the throes of their collaboration, other demos of some songs by Costello and McCartney individually, live performances by Costello, and two duo live performances taken from a 1995 benefit concert at the Royal College of Music.

Following Flip City’s demise, MacManus then adopted DP Costello as his stage name. Costello is his mother’s maiden name coupled with his first two initials DP, in honour of the Gram Parsons’ GP album. After signing to Stiff Records in 1976, he changed his moniker to Elvis Costello. The timing couldn’t be worse as just a couple of months after his first single, Less Than Zero, was released, Elvis Presley died. It was The King’s 41st anniversary this week. To honour the rock and roll legend, Nova compiled a top ten of Presley’s greatest tunes.

To promote the album he toured and played multiple nights in each city – one night with The Confederates (James Burton & Jerry Scheff. one with The Attractions, and one as a solo acoustic set. In late 1986 Costello recorded Blood and Chocolate, which was full of post-punk fervour, the kind not heard since 1978’s This Year’s Model; Nick Lowe who was the producer of Costello’s first five albums produced the album. In 1994 Costello returned to rock and roll for the album, Brutal Youth that saw him reunited with the Attractions. In 1995, Costello released Kojak Variety, an album of cover songs recorded five years earlier, and followed in 1996 with an album of songs originally written for other artists, All This Useless Beauty.

The opening of "Living In Paradise" (and the guitars throughout the song) sounds like Van Morrison's "Domino. That organ part @ 4:16 sounds a bit out of place.
