William Warde Fowler (16 May 1847 – 15 June 1921) was an English historian and ornithologist, and tutor at Lincoln College, Oxford. He was best known for his works on ancient Roman religion. Among his most influential works was The Roman Festivals of the Period of the Republic (1899).

Stream William Fowler Collins and James Jackson Toth’s. New Mexico artist William Fowler Collins has explored many different musical territories over the years. Though we’ve previously covered his brutal work in Mesa Ritual, his latest project takes a more tranquil route.
William Collins RA (8 September 1788 in London – 17 February 1847 in London) was an English landscape and genre painter. His sentimental paintings of poor people enjoying nature became a posthumous high fashion, notably in the 1870s when his market price rose higher than Constable (Cromer Sands, £3780, 1872) and stayed so until 1894. Turner, his model, far exceeded him in value (The Grand Canal, Venice, sold to Vanderbilt in 1885 for £20,000).
Something that made his 2011 record so Eureka!-able was his whole-hog frustration with dark music stereotypes. That riveting criticism was re-upped and re-aimed at folk music in 2016 on his awesome collaboration with James Jackson Toth. It more than makes sense, then, that Fowler Collins is continuing his assault on our cult-music grammatology. His next record is called Field Music, and it comes out October 19 on SIGE. I’ll let you guess what genre label it’s mortaring this time
Most recently, he dropped his newest slab of droning bleakness, Tenebroso, on Handmade Birds in August of last year. Collins is the absolute end-all, be-all go-to guy to for the type of all-embracing, dark, and atmospheric music that drone lovers bury their heads (and souls) into. A rousing combination of buried electronics, both electric and lap steel guitars, and field recordings.

William Fowler Collins: I think everybody brings something different to the table, in terms of audience and what they think of as music, and why they like it. Some people want to be entertained. Some people want to be soothed by music. I watch tons of films and when I'm in the studio mixing or I'm thinking about how an album sequence is going to be when I've completed, a set amount of tracks - even though there's not a specific narrative in what I'm doing with the music and it's abstract, I've actually referred to pieces as scenes
