Yo La Tengo - Popular Songs download album
Preceding their album Popular Songs, Yo La Tengo released an EP entitled Here to Fall Remixes in the summer of 2010. Remixes of their single Here to Fall were done by De La Soul, RJD2, and Pete Rock. This was Yo La Tengo's third out-of-the-box remix EP in 14 years, following the Autumn Sweater and Danelectro Remix EPs. Members. Yo La Tengo have always had the core members Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley.
Fortunately, as Yo La Tengo celebrate a quarter-century of existence with Popular Songs, their twelfth album, there's still plenty to like without a PR push. The Yo La Tengo repertoire has expanded steadily over the years, and the genre experiments of years past have slowly assimilated into their creative process until it's hard to remember the mere Velvets-jacking indie pop band they once were. The easy way to draw fickle attention to your dozenth album would be a drastic makeover, but Yo La Tengo are wise enough to choose continuity over the easy angle
Those who got high marks in math will notice that Popular Songs has 12 selections, and as befits a band that covered George McCrae's "You Can Have It All," on the second half of this set YLT take the opportunity to stretch out and invite the spirit for a while - the total time of the first nine tracks on Popular. Songs is roughly the same as the last three, which should tell you something about the album's dual nature.
Alyda Album: President Yo La Tengo (1989) Is this where Yo La Tengo realized how beautiful Georgia Hubley’s voice can be? This early song is a catchy folk tune with pop hooks (think brushed drums and an acoustic guitar playing an ascending three-note major chord riff) and Dylan-esque vocals from Kaplan. But what makes it great is Hubley’s background vocals. They’re mostly just wordless ahhhhs, but it’s a crucial element that elevates the whole song and also points to what will become one of the band’s most defining sounds.
Popular Songs was released on September 8, 2009 by Matador.
Veteran indie-rock trio Yo La Tengo will release "Fade," the follow-up to their previous album "Popular Songs," on Jan. 15, 2013, through Matador. The label announced the release date for the group's 13th studio album, as well as YLT's 2013 touring schedule, on Wednesday (Nov. 14). Yo La Tengo recorded the 10-song "Fade" in Chicago with producer John McEntire

And yet here’s Yo La Tengo as embracing, alienating, and prolific as ever, with another strong new album, Popular Music. Ranging from pastoral, fragile pop songs to 15-minute noise jams with equal skill, it packs many delights for fans both casual and hardcore. Popular Music lives up to its title from the start, as opener Here to Fall immediately evokes Curtis Mayfield with 1970s soul-era orchestration and an understated funk rhythm. The song rolls forth with a bubbling urgency, as Ira Kaplan sings, There’ll be some happy endings/ There’ll be dreams that won’t come true.
